Bought these in 36, Sapphire color,  for male with 34 inch waist. They fit snug at waist and thigh opening. Of course you don't want any body parts falling out of these, but a 34 size would have never fit his average sized thighs.

A smaller size would not have worked so consider measuring yourself and ordering one size up. They come with a drawstring for a final adjustment to make sure they stay on while swimming and diving.
