Read Carefully Before Ordering, Picture, Product and Dimensions Are Different

Suburban 6261ACW Colonial White Water Heater Access Door

This was a disaster.

It's a door and flange, nearly 15 inches across.

It did not fit a 6 gallon Suburban water heater which came as standard equipment on a Pleasure-Way van camper Class B. The original door flew off the camper some where between Key Largo and 400 miles later, when it was discovered missing.

We needed a 12 by 12 inch radius door that sits on pins. This one came with a hinge and a flange, the sizing is way different that shown on the product page. I have included a picture of the tape measure across the door we received that shows the door is almost 15 inches across.

We needed Polar White and this is Colonial White. We didn't realize when ordering this that Suburban was using two different "white" colors, so that was our fault. Just so you know, the Polar White is whiter and brighter than the Colonial White which leans more towards beige.

If you need a door for your Suburban hot water heater, heaven help you. They come in bewildering sizes and colors and you are forced into paying for the included flange and frame. You can not get just the door.

By the way, Suburban hot water heaters are now sold by:

I contacted them about getting a replacement door and they don't sell them directly and even so, they only manufacture and sell the door with the complete frame and flange in bewildering sizes. It's up to the consumer to find a 3rd party that may or may not have the correct door for sale. If you are lucky enough to get the right door, you have a metal frame and flange to pay for with it.

It's counterproductive to toss a brand new frame and flange into the dump or recycle bin.

Reading many RV forums, I find that we are not alone in this ridiculous dilemma.

Not an eco-friendly way to do business at all!
